Driven by a personal aspiration to counterbalance my left-brained focus cultivated through a career in science and project management, I found myself intrigued by the allure of the artistic world. Despite my limited experience in this domain, I embraced the challenge head-on, immersing myself wholeheartedly and embracing a learn-as-you-go approach.
As a woodworking hobbyist, I enjoy the challenge of transforming raw materials into finished works of handcrafted art. This passion of mine has two primary components: turning woods on my lathe and repurposing bourbon barrels from local distilleries.
Using the lathe, I turn a variety of domestic and exotic woods into functional items such as bottle stoppers and openers, spirit sipping glasses, bowls, vases, and pens; using the natural beauty of the wood to inspire my work. Additionally, I love the challenge of repurposing bourbon barrels into unique pieces of rustic furniture that combine style and practicality, whether that be a bourbon tasting flight tray, a sitting bench, coat rack or various types of tables.
My ultimate goal is to create one-of-a-kind, functional products that satisfy my customers. The satisfaction that comes with creating something unique and beautiful that others can enjoy is what drives my passion for woodworking.
When not in the workshop, I can be found taking in the beauty of The Rocky Mountains and enjoying other natural wonders. Oh yeah and other outdoor and social activities.
